The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has issued yellow warnings for the islands of the central and eastern groups of the Azores, which will be in effect from Monday to Tuesday due to forecasts of sometimes heavy rainfall.
According to the IPMA, for the islands of the Central Azores group of islands (Faial, Pico, São Jorge, Terceira and Graciosa), a yellow warning due to “occasionally heavy rainfall” is in effect from 17:00 local time (18:00 in Lisbon) on Monday . fair and 11:00 local time (12:00 in Lisbon) on Tuesday.
For the same reason, on Tuesday the islands of the Eastern group (Sao Miguel and Santa Maria) will be under a yellow warning from 8:00 local time (9:00 in Lisbon) until 23:00 local time (00:00 in Lisbon ).
According to the IPMA, a yellow warning, the least severe on a scale of three, is issued whenever a risk situation arises for certain activities depending on the meteorological situation.
