Granny charges the family for Christmas dinner, and prices have risen this year.

In 2015, after the death of her husband, Caroline Duddridge came up with the idea to start charging for the Christmas dinners she cooked for her family. This year the decision was made to raise prices in light of the rising cost of living, particularly in relation to supermarket prices in Wales.

Last year, Caroline’s two sons paid £15 (about €17) and her three daughters paid £10 (about €11.5) for their meals.

Because of the difference in pay between men and women in the family, Caroline has decided that in 2023 she will increase the amount she charges her daughters by two pounds (€2.30).

“I raised the price of girls (this year) by two pounds because I got some criticism from people saying I was sexist,” Caroline said. BBC News.

Grandchildren over five years old will have to pay five pounds (€5.77), and children under 2.50 pounds (€2.90).

According to the woman, even when asking for money for the dishes, she continues to incur losses because the amount she spends on purchases is higher.

“These are not Christmas things, but regular shopping. It’s terrible and we’re wondering how this will all end,” he said.

Despite some negative comments about charging for utensils, Caroline says many internet users thought the idea was excellent and would embrace it.
