The average waiting time for emergency patients in Lisbon hospitals ranges from one hour to more than 12 hours.

The average waiting time for emergency patients in hospitals in the Lisbon region varied: at 17:00 this Wednesday: from more than 12 hours at the Fernando Fonseca Hospital (Amadora Sintra) to one hour and 22 minutes at the Beatriz Angelo Hospital in Loures.

According to the National Health Service Portal consulted by the Lusa agency, 54 patients with a yellow bracelet (urgent) were this Wednesday at 17:00 in the emergency department of the Fernando Fonseca Hospital (Amadora Sintra), with an average waiting time of 12 hours 36 minutes, with a recommended time of 60 minutes.

In this unit, nine people wearing an orange bracelet (recommended time of 10 minutes) waited for a wait time of two hours and 46 minutes.

At Santa Maria Hospital, the average wait time was four hours and 51 minutes, with 42 people wearing yellow wristbands in the central emergency department at the time, and eight people waiting in the general emergency department at San Francisco Xavier Hospital wearing yellow wristbands. , with a wait time of three hours and 03 minutes.

At the hospitals of San José, García de Orta in Almada and Beatriz Angelo in Loures, the average waiting times were two hours 33 minutes (20 people), one hour 58 minutes (79) and one hour 22 minutes (three), respectively.

At D. Estefania Children’s Hospital, the wait time for emergency patients is 31 minutes, with six people waiting in the emergency room.

In the Porto region, at the São João Hospital, the average waiting time for emergency patients is one hour and 50 minutes, with 29 people wearing a yellow bracelet. In pediatric urgent care, the wait time for emergency patients is 39 minutes (one person).

At Santo António Hospital, the waiting time for emergency patients is one hour and 14 minutes with a wait of 25 people, while at Pedro Hispano in Matosinhos the waiting time for emergency patients is two hours and 13 minutes with 11 people.

At the Eduardo Santos Silva Hospital in Vila Nova de Gaia, 43 people were waiting in the multipurpose emergency department with yellow wristbands, with a waiting time of two hours and 20 minutes, and in the pediatric emergency department there were four emergency patients with a waiting time of one hour and five minutes.

Manchester triage, which assesses a user’s clinical risk and assigns a priority level, has five levels: urgent (red wristband), very urgent (orange), urgent (yellow), less urgent (green) and non-urgent. ( blue).

In the case of a yellow bracelet, the first service should not take more than 60 minutes, and in the case of a green bracelet, it is recommended not to exceed 120 minutes (two hours).
