Bar workers on CP’s long-distance trains are returning to strike action this Thursday and Friday “to defend their rights” and better wages, according to a statement.
In a statement, the Northern Hotel, Tourism, Catering and Related Workers’ Union said that “CP did not introduce a catering service on the train, but held a competition at the last minute”, adding that jobs were not guaranteed. 31, 2023.
In the same memo, the union says service concessionaire NewRail “committed to submitting a wage increase proposal for 2024 but has not delivered on its promise.”
“In addition, the company has debts for additional work, holidays and holidays for some employees, which it still has not paid, and working conditions have worsened,” the structure said.
Workers will gather this Thursday at the Campanha station in Porto, the union said.
The professionals already went on strike in September in connection with the signing of the company agreement and “in the fight for other rights that are being questioned, namely full overtime pay, provision of food in cases of train delays, strengthening of staff, improvement of working conditions and on a discriminatory scale” , said a statement at the time.
CP – Comboios de Portugal announced in May that the new operator of bars on long-distance trains had already regularized workers’ wages, at which time the service was resumed after a long impasse.
Previously, rail bar workers had not been paid for months after the previous concessionaire encountered problems that led to the suspension of service.
