Lisbon IPO marks 100 years of cinema

u To celebrate its centenary, the Portuguese Institute of Oncology (IPO) in Lisbon, from January 5 to 7, in collaboration with IndieLisboa, is organizing a film exhibition at the Cinema São Jorge, bringing together six films from different eras and genres. genres – documentary, fiction, drama, comedy – each of which has its own perspective on how we fight cancer.

Two daily sessions are scheduled, preceded by a presentation by the IPO medical professional. There will also be discussion panels. Among the films shown, a highlight is the short documentary film directed by António López Ribeiro in 1952, “A Luta Contra o Cancro em Portugal,” which will be screened at the opening of Valérie Donzelli’s “La guerre est déclarée.”

Also on display will be “Metamorphoses of Birds” by Catarina Vasconcelos, “Corpus Notre” by Claire Simon, “The Farewell” by Lulu Wang, “Diario Caro” by Nanni Moretti and “Love Story” by Nanni Moretti. Arthur Hiller. The purpose of this exhibition is to “celebrate life.” “This applies to healthcare workers, people living with cancer, caregivers, family members and friends, as well as anyone who has at some point come into contact with this disease,” explains Eva Falcao, President of IPO Lisboa .
