French Interior Minister Gérard Darmanin said the terrorist threat remained “extremely strong” and said 73 mobile units would be on the ground, including five new anti-riot units.
5,000 soldiers from the anti-terrorism operation Sentinel and 35,000 firefighters will also be deployed, the minister added in a statement during the presentation of the device, which aims to guarantee the safety of celebrations for more than a million people on the Champs-Élysées (Paris). ).
A concert and fireworks display will be held on one of the most emblematic avenues of the French capital, and from a security point of view, drones and two helicopters will be on constant alert in the Paris area.
