Venezuela accused Argentina of violating international air navigation agreements by agreeing to confiscate, at the request of the United States, an Iranian-Venezuelan plane detained since June 2022 in Buenos Aires.
The Venezuelan government has demanded that Argentina “immediately return the aircraft, which can only be flown with the express permission of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, to which it belongs,” according to a statement released Saturday by Venezuela’s Foreign Ministry.
In the document, Venezuela condemned the decision of Argentine authorities, who on Friday said that the request to confiscate the Boeing 747 Dreamliner freighter from Emtrasur, a subsidiary of the Venezuelan Consortium of Aviation Industry and Air Services (Conviasa, state-owned), was valid.
