The Navegante public transport pass will be free from this Monday for all students under 23 years of age. This measure is included in the state budget for 2024.
The Navegante Pass allows travel throughout the Lisbon Metropolitan Area (AML) and is free for students under 23 years of age. It was included by the socialist government in the state budget for that year.
The Lisbon City Council has already made municipal Navegante free for young students living in the capital.
According to Transportes Metropolitanos de Lisboa, current holders of the Navegante 4_18 or sub-23 passes will still be charged a monthly pass as has been the case until now, “but this time at no cost to users.”
“This supply is now available [desde 26 de dezembro] throughout the existing network of transport operators in the Lisbon metropolitan area and the Navegante Payshop network,” the carrier said in a statement.
TML, created in 2019, has already announced that the Navegante passes, which can be used in all public service companies providing regular passenger transport in the 18 municipalities of the AML, will maintain their price in 2024: 30 euros for the municipal Navegante (travel within one municipality). and 40 euros for the capital city of Navegante (in 18 AML municipalities).
The discounts provided for the Navegante and +65 family names also remain in force, with the Navegante 12 remaining free.
According to the decision of the Lisbon agglomeration, the periodic tariffs in force for Carris Metropolitana (road services) will not change in 2024, maintaining the value in force on the date of its implementation in June 2022.
