According to the National Portal of Health Services, the average waiting time for emergency patients exceeded at 11 a.m. this Monday, 13 hours at the Penafiel Hospital and nine hours at the Amadora Sintra Hospital.
The data refers to the average wait time for care over the past two hours, and the number of patients represented illustrates the number of people currently waiting for care after screening.
At the Padre América hospital in Penafiel, Porto district, the waiting time for emergency patients was 13 hours 26 minutes, compared with the recommended time of 60 minutes for six people, according to the SNS portal consulted by Lusa. I’m waiting at 11 am with yellow bracelets.
At the Fernando Fonseca Hospital (Amadora Sintra), the waiting time for patients classified as emergency (yellow bracelet) was nine hours and 31 minutes, with 10 patients being treated at that time.
The waiting time at Santa Maria Hospital in Lisbon was six hours and 23 minutes at 11am, with 17 people tested with a yellow bracelet.
At the emergency department of the San Bernardo hospital in Setubal, the waiting time was five hours and 40 minutes, with five patients considered urgent.
At Beatrice Angelo Hospital, waiting times were four hours and 32 minutes, with 15 people classified as emergency.
In Viseu, at the San Teotoniu hospital, waiting times for emergency patients were four hours and 12 minutes, with 15 patients awaiting care after triage.
According to the Department of Health, 187 health centers are open today and Tuesday to respond to non-emergency acute illnesses.
The Ministry of Health says that in the case of non-emergency acute illness, the use of alternatives available to emergency services, such as health centers and SNS 24 digital services, “helps reduce the burden on emergency services in hospitals at the expense of services that can be provided elsewhere in the National health services.”
