This Monday, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) emphasized the realism of the New Year’s message of the President of the Republic and assured that it is “building an alternative” to respond to the challenges of 2024.
Reacting to the message at the party’s national headquarters in Lisbon, Social Democrats vice-president Margarida Balceiro Lopez said Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa’s realism “contrasts with the tone of the government’s speech.”
The head of state delivered a “message of demand,” but also a “message of hope,” he emphasized.
When asked if the PSD is ready to respond to the “increasingly complex” challenges that Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa expects for 2024, the vice president assured that the party is “focused on providing people with an alternative”, which responds to “problems in access to healthcare , education and housing.”
