As EITB has learned, the 50% discount will continue to be applied to both personalized and non-personalized Barik as well as temporary subscriptions.
After the controversy unleashed in relation to public transport discounts, Bizkaia will finally extend the 50% discount to all Barik cards, including anonymous ones, and to temporary passes.
Tomorrow, Thursday, the Bizkaia Transport Consortium (CTB) will meet in an extraordinary manner to discuss the fare bonus. As EITB Media has learned, in this extraordinary council, the general deputy of Bizkaia and president of the CTB, Elixabete Etxanobe, is going to propose the application of a 50% discount on both Barik cards and temporary subscriptions.
All PNV members on the CTB council share this measure, so its approval is guaranteed at this Thursday’s meeting.
In any case, the change will not be effective until the second half of next February, and will last until February 2025.
The PNV has rectified its initial position, since initially it advocated leaving anonymous Barik cards and monthly bonuses out of the discounts. In addition to Bizkaia, the PNV will promote similar measures in all institutions in the country.
