The Judicial Police of Setúbal have been carrying out an operation since Thursday that resulted in the seizure of almost 628 kilograms of cocaine hidden in melons in a warehouse in Quinta do Anjo, in Palmela. The drug arrived from Brazil.

In their statement, the Setúbal Judicial Police only states that “based on the information collected, they seized 627.75 kilograms of a product suspected of being cocaine (equivalent to more than six million individual doses).”
“As a result of the investigations, it was possible to establish that the seized product was hidden inside pallets of melons and was intended for Belgium,” the note says.
In a conversation with the Lusa agency, a PJ source from Setubal admitted that if it is confirmed to be cocaine, the sale of the product seized in Palmela, in the district of Setubal, could bring in about 12.5 million euros.
