Andre Ventura criticized the speech of Pedro Nuno Santos, who, according to him, was the “face of housing”

Chegi President André Ventura criticized this Sunday the speech of the new PS Secretary General Pedro Nuno Santos, considering that he has been “the face of public housing for the last few years.”

“If he actually had a proposal to help curb rent increases or increase rent support—which is overdue, by the way—or contain the housing crisis, or increase public housing stock, he would have done it when he had the opportunity because that he was the minister in charge of this area,” Andre Ventura said at a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Lisbon.

Asked about the Socialist Party congress, which took place from Friday to today in Lisbon, the leader of Chegi said that Pedro Nuno Santos presented himself “as if he had nothing to do with the party and the government in which he has been in recent years ” .

In this sense, he rejected the measures presented by Pedro Nuno Santos in the closing speech of the Socialist Congress.

“These are just policy initiatives that demonstrate a complete lack of shame and responsibility for the participation that he himself had in the socialist government,” he noted.

Regarding the fact that Chega was not present at the PS congress, Andre Ventura considered that the lack of invitation shows that his party is the only one that “questions the vested interests of the Socialist Party.”

Ahead of the March 10 legislative elections, Andre Ventura noted that “if there is a right-wing majority that night,” his phone “will try to guarantee convergence and the possibility of forming a government.”

“Our main goal must be to stop the PS from ruling the country,” insisted Andre Ventura, who announced his re-candidacy for the party leadership at next weekend’s congress.
