The Portuguese band Belle Chase Hotel celebrates the 25th anniversary of the release of their first album “Fossanova” with a concert planned at the Teatro Academico Gil Vicente in Coimbra on Saturday 13th. This comes at a time when the band has decided to return to the studio and prepare a new album, due out later this year.
This is the return of a project that began in 1995 and which, since its initial formation, has included JP Simões (voice), Pedro Renato (guitars), Raquel Raglia (voice), Antoine Pimentel (drums), Sergio Costa (guitar and crossbar). flute) and Luis Pedro Madeira (piano, mandolin, accordion). Bassist and band co-founder João Baptista died in 2020 and was replaced by Miguel Duarte.
Without wanting to prejudge the new album, JP Simões says that “maybe” Belle Chase Hotel still sounds “like the ’90s, but there’s a lot of stuff from the ’90s that still sounds good,” he emphasizes. “It’s probably the same group, but created by a little older people,” he said.
