A Santarem court sentenced two thieves responsible for dozens of robberies, vehicle thefts and drug trafficking in Ribatejo to 10 and a half years in prison. They were each found guilty of a total of 15 offenses, including kidnapping, aggravated robbery, aggravated robbery, trafficking and possession of a prohibited weapon, among others, for which partial sentences exceed the maximum sentence of 25 years in prison.
The oldest defendant, 61, was a self-employed property developer with no criminal record; the other defendant, a 46-year-old drug addict with an extensive history, worked as a caretaker on a farm owned by the first in Entroncamento, where authorities discovered a greenhouse for the production of hashish they were growing.
In one of the robberies, in which they received about 28 thousand euros in cash and valuables, the duo kidnapped, threatened to kill and left bound with tape a disabled woman who surprised them in her home in the municipality of Entroncamento.
