Family searched for woman who had been in the morgue for 13 days

Maria de Fátima Araujo, who disappeared on November 23 in Lisbon, was found dead in a vegetable garden in Carnachida, in an inaccessible place. This Wednesday, the family was called to the Forensic Bureau of Cascais to identify the body, which had already been in the morgue since December 28, which was confirmed in court. CM National Institute of Forensic Medicine.

A relative of the woman said the body was “severely decomposed and covered in dirt.” The family cannot accept that they were not notified of the body’s discovery until 13 days later, while they were still searching, and say they will not hold a funeral until they understand what happened.

ABOUT CM knows the woman had identification when she was found, but the Institute of Forensic Medicine says the family was notified as soon as the woman was identified.

ABOUT CM I contacted PSP but have not yet received a response.
