André Villas-Boas will officially announce his candidacy for the presidency of FC Porto next Wednesday, the 17th. CM knows that the choice of date is not innocent, respecting a principle that will apply throughout the campaign: exclude the football team from the electoral battle.
The application is scheduled to be submitted at Porto customs at 19:00 on the 17th, exactly in the middle of the football team’s sports cycle. In other words, three days after the reception against Braga and three days before the new game at the Dragao with Moreirense.
The concern for Villas-Boas and his advising team is to avoid attacks on two fronts: the candidate trying to take advantage of the football team’s possible poor performance to win over disgruntled fans; this contributes to destabilizing the situation around the team. Consequently, in several of his statements in the past, Villas-Boas has already said that this should not affect the competitive focus.
