The municipality of Oeiras will this year provide houses to teachers and doctors working in the municipality, with a monthly rent of 150 euros, announced this Friday the president of the municipality, Isaltino Morais.
“We will deliver 17 houses to teachers in February and will probably deliver another 30 by June, so within 2024. This means that during this year we will rent out 47 houses to teachers,” Isaltino said. Morais.
The independent mayor spoke this afternoon during the ceremony of handing over health powers to the municipality of Oeiras in the district of Lisbon, in a ceremony attended by Minister Manuel Pizarro.
Another professional class that will also be provided with housing with a monthly rent of 150 euros will be doctors working in the municipality of Oeiras.
Regarding housing, the mayor said Oeiras has earmarked €370 million for the area as part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
“If 20 municipalities in this country built the kind of housing that Oeiras is building, the housing problem in Portugal would be solved in 10 years,” he said.
The mayor of Oeiras recalled that the municipality is currently building housing both for families in precarious situations and for members of the middle class.
“We will be able to reach families with a per capita income very close to two thousand euros per month, which means that we will provide families in this municipality with houses with four rooms for a price of about 800 euros per month in the municipality where these houses are located, already reach 2,500 and 3,000 euros,” he emphasized.
