The man, kidnapped on Wednesday in Amadora by two assailants and detained by the Judicial Police (PJ), owes his kidnappers 80 thousand euros from businesses of “dubious origin,” a source told PJ.
A source from the National Counter-Terrorism Unit (UNCT) of the SP told Lusa that the unit began with an investigation into a kidnapping, but ended up also investigating another kidnapping at gunpoint of a person who was not directly involved, but was connected to the business.
According to the SP, the two detainees, aged 37 and 39 years, were part of the group along with three others who fled and have not yet been found by the SP.
The group met last Wednesday in the Amadora area with one of the victims so that he could transfer or prove the transfer of 80 thousand euros obtained from a business of “dubious origin.”
Then the 41-year-old man said that he had transferred this amount, but he did not have evidence that was on his personal computer, which was in the possession of his brother, the source explained.
The man was then kidnapped and forced to ask his brother to meet the group at one of the Amadora metro stations, which is what eventually happened.
However, the computer did not contain any evidence of the transfer, so the brother was also kidnapped and assaulted until the kidnappers realized he had nothing to do with the deal and released him a few hours later.
The debtor then went to the PSP police station to report the kidnapping of his brother.
The investigation into the kidnapping fell into the hands of the UNCT, SP, which also arrested two of the five perpetrators of kidnapping and assault in the Amador area, away from the crime scene, while the remaining three fled.
The investigation continues to establish new facts, as well as the identities of the escaped kidnappers.
The previous SP memo reporting the arrest of the two suspects had already stated that “the victim was lured to a public place in the city of Amadora, from where he was taken by force, being deprived of his liberty for several hours, subjected to physical attacks and constant threats to his life with a firearm “
PJ’s source added to Lusa that the two detainees were present at the Amadora court on Friday, but due to the reasons for the strike, they were only identified at the Sintra district court, with the first interrogation scheduled for today. measures that may extend to preventive detention.
