The Bank of Portugal warned this Monday that the organizations “Rosa Maria Ferreira Da Misericórdia Instituição PT” and “Crédito Português” are not authorized to provide, mediate or provide credit advice or any other financial activity subject to supervision.
The Central Bank (BdP) warns that “the organization that operates through the Facebook page (…) is not currently and has never been authorized to carry out in Portugal the activity of concession, intermediation or advice on credit or any other financial activity , intended for institutions under the supervision of the Bank of Portugal.”
In addition, it warns that the organization that carries out activities under the name “Crédito Português” through a “web page” as well as “pages on the social networks Instagram and Facebook” is not allowed to carry out concession, intermediary activities. or advising on loan contracts, or any other financial activity intended for institutions under the supervision of the BDP.
Activities for providing loans are provided for in the General Regime of Credit Institutions and Financial Companies, approved by Decree-Law No. 298/92 of December 31, as well as activities for credit intermediation and the provision of consulting services under loan agreements. in Decree-Law No. 81-C/2017 of July 7.
Lists of persons authorized to provide loans, act as credit intermediaries and provide advisory services in relation to loan agreements can be found on the Banco de Portugal website and on the bank’s client portal.
