Chega to submit vote of no confidence in Madeira regional government

Chega will submit a vote of no confidence in the regional government of Madeira, reports SIC news.

According to the same source, the party president and Madeira’s leader met on Thursday evening to discuss the decision, which is due to be announced next week.

This information comes after the political crisis that occurred in Madeira after the judicial police launched a mega operation with several searches in the region. As a result of the investigation, three people were arrested and the leader of the regional government, Miguel Albuquerque, was declared accused.

The President of the Madeira Executive has already confirmed that he will not resign.

Before Chegi, and after strong opposition from local opposition, PAN threatened to tear up the parliamentary protection agreement if Albuquerque remained in office.
