The Socialist General Secretary is meeting this Monday with representatives of the PSP trade unions and GNR associations to try to find answers to their problems, saying he wants the security forces to “feel valued and worthy.”
“We agreed to the meeting. We asked for the meeting because we obviously have great respect for the security forces and want them to feel valued and worthy,” he said.
Speaking to journalists after presenting the lists of PS candidates for the legislative elections at the Aveiro court, Pedro Nuno Santos said he wants to understand what the concerns and reasons for dissatisfaction are in order to try to find “better solutions” so that those who feel good in Portugal, protecting its people.
The PS general secretary added that this path “needs to be deepened” with all civil servants so that the various professional groups in the state feel valued.
“For many years we have devalued public administration. Recent PS governments have unfrozen careers and introduced promotions, but this is work that needs to continue to ensure that our public servants, who provide a very important service to the public in different areas, feel valued. worthy and that we have a public administration capable of recruiting and retaining qualified personnel in a variety of fields,” he said.
The meeting of Pedro Nuno Santos with the Platform bringing together the PSP trade unions and the GNR associations is scheduled for 17:00 at the PS national headquarters in Lisbon.
