Twenty-two families living in the precarious housing center of Rio Giudeu in the municipality of Seixal, Setubal district, will begin relocation this Tuesday, the city council announced.
According to the municipality, the relocation of 22 families with a total of 55 people living in this core, also known as Quinta João Tomás, in the parish of Amora, will take place between Tuesday and Wednesday.
This move, as explained by the municipality, falls under the Municipal Housing Plan of the Municipality of Seixal for 2021/2026, which aims to meet the housing needs of the municipality.
In a statement, Seixal City Council President Paulo Silva (CDU) explains that this is a municipal housing policy program that aims to create conditions under which the cost of access to “adequate and permanent” housing “is compatible with the financial budget of families living in situations of financial need.” “
Paulo Silva emphasizes that the goal of the municipality is “to promote the social integration of an individual or family, therefore the housing solutions adopted promote integration in society, changing the previously established paradigm in which population relocation only occurs with the construction of social quarters.”
