The general deputy of Bizkaia, Elixabete Etxanobe, has highlighted that the transport service Bizkaibus will maintain a 20% discount in the price of temporary passes, such as Bidai tickets, when the 50% bonus that applies in 2024 to all public transport ends.
Etxanobe appeared at the full control session that the General Meetings of Bizkaia held this Wednesday in Gernika to respond to a question from EH Bildu, which asked him why the Bizkaia Transport Consortium (CTB) decided on December 26 apply the 20% discounts for 2024 only on the price of temporary subscriptions and “left out” the wallet card from the bonuses barikused by 80% of users.
Raul Méndez’s member has accused the Provincial Council of having given a “spectacle” and created “chaos”a “gibberish” and having caused “confusion” among citizens with this issue of discounts, since the CTB agreed to extend the bonus to the Barik card once the central government decided to maintain the general discount for this year.
Etxanobe has responded that on this issue they are mixing two “different” agreements: the 20% discount approved by the Transport Consortium for temporary passes and the 50% extension in bonuses for all transport tickets in 2024.
She explained that when the CTB, which she chairs, took the agreement of December 26, the central government had not yet clarified whether it would extend the 50% bonuses to 2024, which it did on December 28, after which, At the beginning of January, in Bizkaia it was agreed to extend the discounts to the corresponding extent.
