The PS leadership today mourned the death of one of the party’s founders, João Félix, who was the former Secretary of State for Business and Emigration in the first two governments of Mário Soares and a member of the Constituent Assembly.
João Alfredo Felix Vieira Lima died at the age of 83, and the PS leadership decided to fly the flag at half-mast.
“To his family and friends, PS expresses its most sincere and heartfelt condolences and strives to preserve the memory of him and his values,” said a note released by the Socialist leadership.
João Felix was a member of the Assembly of the Republic in Legislative Assemblies I and II, as well as in the Constituent Assembly, taking over the functions of Secretary of State for Emigration and Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Emigration between 1976 and 1978.
The PS states that he was also one of the founders of the Food Bank against Hunger in the Viseu district.
