A fire in a truck that spilled fuel onto the pavement led to the closure of the A4 motorway towards Porto Amarante at kilometer 51 on Tuesday, according to concessionaire Brisa and civil protection authorities.
The truck fire alarm was reported at 6:25 a.m.
The concessionaire’s statement clarifies that the incident occurred at the 51st kilometer towards Porto Amarante.
The Tamega-e-Sousa Sub-Regional Command for Emergency Management and Civil Protection told Lusa that the fire did not cause any casualties, but only damaged a vehicle and left some fuel on the pavement.
Around 7:45 a.m., 11 units responded, assisted by five fire trucks from the Vila Mean and Lusada volunteer firefighters.
Porto’s GNR and Briza road crews are also on site and there is currently no estimated opening time.
