A 38-year-old man suspected of crimes related to child pornography using computer platforms will await trial in preventive detention after being detained on Tuesday in the Grand Port, the Judicial Police (PJ) said on Wednesday.
The arrest, according to the SP statement, came after an investigation that lasted “about a year, when international organizations noted the sending of images considered to be abuse and sexual exploitation of minors, carried out on the basis of access registered in Portugal.”
Based on the results of the investigation, the joint venture established that the detainee gained access to “illegal content related to the abuse and sexual exploitation of minors” through online platforms, the press release emphasizes.
According to the investigative police, “several multimedia files of this kind” were seized during the arrest.
Having attended the first judicial interrogation this Wednesday, the most serious coercive measure was applied to him – preventive detention, the report adds.
