Regarding the housing crisis, the socialist believed that “rents should not rise by more than 2%” unless wage growth exceeded 2%.
When asked about the situation at SNS with long waiting times and complaints against the organization, Pedro Nuno Santos explained that primary health care is undergoing reform. He emphasizes that the same reform will bring autonomy to public hospitals, which will consequently lead to improved quality of services.
Pedro Nuno Santos also said that it should not be assumed that problems occurring in public hospitals do not occur in private ones.
“The NHS needs to recruit and retain doctors, which is the biggest challenge. We are committed to continuing to work with doctors and nurses to ensure they feel motivated to continue working with the NHS,” he said.
The PS general secretary also stressed that the party will not forget pensioners and will take measures that will continue to protect “those who have worked all their lives for the benefit of Portugal.”
As for the opposition, the PS Secretary General made a number of critical remarks, emphasizing that “it would be terrible” if it were headed by Chega.
