Ireneu Barreto reiterated that “in this serious moment” he sought to “find a solution to the current crisis” that would have “the least possible impact on the economic and social situation in the region.”
“In fact, I tried to ensure that the resignation of the current government occurs only after the approval of the budget, which would allow citizens, companies and public administration to benefit from the new measures provided for in this diploma, especially in terms of taxes. and public investment. It was impossible,” he said.
However, the representative of the Republic emphasized that the current position of the executive in the field of governance “does not prejudice the normal implementation of public expenditure and the adoption of necessary decisions that are urgent and fundamental for the proper management of public affairs, especially in the terms of contracts and necessary and urgent public tenders such as acts to implement the investments provided for in the Recovery and Resilience Plan.”
