According to local media, four boats with powerful engines used to transport drugs escaped from the Guardia Civil in the port of Albufera de Barbate. As a result of this pursuit, during which the agents had far fewer resources and a much less powerful vessel, one of the boats passed a Civil Guard boat, resulting in the death of two civilian guards and a third one seriously injured who had to be evacuated. rescued after falling into water and slightly injuring another.

Hours earlier, Spain’s interior minister had been in the area to point out that police pressure had succeeded in scaring off drug traffickers from the Campo de Gibraltar area. He announced a special security plan for the area.
