Another case of PSP bonus fraud investigated

Having entrusted on Tuesday the criminal investigation department of the PSP in Lisbon with the collection of evidence in the CP/Metro department, in an investigation launched in November 2023, the deputy is trying to confirm new evidence.

ABOUT CM discovered that the complaint came from the Police Representatives Association. The complaint identifies suspicious cases that occurred between 2020 and 2022 in another unit of the Lisbon PSP Command, similar to the CP/Metro unit. Given the low salaries of police officers, bonuses are a welcome addition.

Now the investigation is finding out whether the repeated allocation of bonuses to one or another police officer is the result of favoritism on the part of the hierarchy. It may also involve the crime of falsifying documents and falsifying duty schedules, thereby allowing agents to receive payment for work not performed.
