The Supreme Court (STJ) has overturned the deportation order for one of the serial rapists who attacked women in the Parque Verde area of Coimbra in early 2022.
During the first two weeks of 2022, the two caused public alarm in the Verde city park in Coimbra. At the beginning of the night, they robbed women and forced them to have sexual intercourse. In some cases they were filmed and photographed. Both are serving prison sentences of twelve and eight and a half years.
The accused, 21 years old, is in Portugal with a temporary residence permit for study. I attended vocational courses in Coimbra. He committed the crimes together with another classmate who was 18 years old. The latter already had a criminal record and a conviction for rape.
The STJ only overturned the deportation sentence for the oldest defendant to appeal.
