A 54-year-old man died this Thursday in an industrial accident in Bidoeira de Cima, municipality of Leiria, a source in the National Republican Guard (GNR) told the Lusa agency.
According to the same source, the accident occurred as a result of a falling cement block hitting a foreign man.
“The victim was building a wall with other people when the block fell,” said a source from the GNR territorial command in Leiria.
Authorities were notified of the incident at 5:10 p.m.
The commander of the volunteer firefighters of Ortigosa, Custodio Figueiredo, added that the forces of this corporation, Sapadores de Leiria, the National Institute of Emergency Medical Services and the GNR, as well as eight vehicles and about 20 operational personnel, arrived at the scene of the incident.
