Four hooded men stole a van early this Sunday, pretending to be police officers, on the A23 motorway, near Vila Nova da Barquinha, Santarem, at kilometer 20.6 north-south.
The suspects, driving a dark-colored SUV with blue swivel wheels, approached the victim, who was traveling with two passengers, but acted only under physical duress.
Two of the suspects fled in a stolen van and the other two in a rotary driven vehicle.
A car theft alert was issued to GNR at around 1am. Hooded men posing as law enforcement officers forced the driver to stop on the highway.
The driver stopped because he thought it was actually a regular police patrol.
The first to arrive was a patrol from the GNR do Carregado.
An official source at GNR said: CM that the stolen vehicle was found in the Torres Novas area.
The judicial police are establishing the whereabouts of the suspects.
