The PSP says the police demonstration near the Capitol may constitute a crime of insubordination and is referring the case to a lawmaker.

The PSP considered that the demonstration of security forces in front of the Capitol may constitute a crime of insubordination and acknowledged that it had referred the matter to the prosecutor’s office. Information provided CNN Portugalwhich quotes a representative of the above-mentioned body.

According to the same source, a protest was requested only in Terreiro do Paço in Lisbon, but hundreds of police were concentrated in the Capitol and the protest was not authorized.

Dressed in black shirts and holding Portuguese flags, members of the PSP and PNP whistled, cheered and shouted: “The united police force will never be defeated,” “Shame,” “Respect,” and “Portugal,” and sang the national anthem.
