Heirs of cousin Ricardo Salgado demand return of confiscated assets

The heirs and successors of José Manuel Espirito Santo, the cousin of Ricardo Salgado, who was accused in the BES case but died before the case came to trial (the trial begins in May), demanded the removal of the seized assets, but the court rejected them. Houses and cars are at stake.

In the document that CM had access, the prosecutor admits that the already identified heirs can challenge the decision, which, in the opinion CM, must happen. During the investigation into the mega-trial, BES was ordered to preemptively seize assets to prevent their possible dispersion. In the indictment, prosecutors demand that Salgado and the other defendants be ordered to pay the state 12 billion euros.
