Court sentences two men for death of DJ Run-DMC Jam Master Jay

This Tuesday, his godson and childhood friend were found guilty of murdering DJ Jam Master Jay, better known as Jason Mizell, in 2002 when he was fatally shot in his recording studio in New York, according to information provided by Reuters.

Ronald Washington, 59, and Carl Jordan Jr., 40, were found guilty of murder and drug trafficking in the shooting death of Jam Master Jay (stage name of Jason Mizell), one of the founders of Run-DMC.

The verdict was announced Tuesday after a month-long trial in U.S. District Court in Brooklyn.

According to the same source, during the trial, prosecutors called witnesses who were in the studio the night 37-year-old Cem was shot and killed on October 30, 2002. Witnesses were also called who said both Jordan and Washington had confided in people close to them that they were the killers.

Prosecutors also said the two convicts conspired to kill Mizell after the musician cut them out of a nearly €200,000 drug deal in Baltimore.

A third defendant, Jay Bryant, accused of the crime, is expected to be tried in May 2026.

Jam Master Jay, DJ of hip-hop trio Run-DMC, was murdered 18 years ago. by a masked man in the studio where he recorded his work in Queens, New York.
