The inflation rate was 2.1% in February, 0.2 percentage points lower than in January, according to a quick estimate published this Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
The core inflation rate (the overall index excluding unprocessed food and energy) recorded a change of 2.2% in February versus 2.4% in the previous month.
The variation in the energy products index increased to 4.3% (0.2% in the previous month), while the unprocessed food index fell to 0.8% (3.1% in January), “partly as a result of the base effect, The associated price increase was recorded in February 2023 (monthly change 1.4%).”
