Mortagua believes Cavaco is siding with the bad government and says Durao’s pride in the troika is an insult

BE coordinator Mariana Mortagua found it offensive this Saturday that former Prime Minister Durán Barroso “was proud of austerity measures and at times the Troika”, and accused Cavaco Silva of “always being on the side of a bad government”.

At the end of a meeting with the population wanting to stop open-pit lithium mining in the Serra da Argemela, in the parish of Barco, Covilhã, Castelo Branco district, the BE leader was asked about Friday’s statements by the former President of the European Union. Commission by Durau Barroso and opinion piece by former President of the Republic Cavaco Silva.

“Day after day, leaders of the past, rulers of the past, appear who represent the worst that has happened in this country. This is another example of how the past has returned to this campaign,” he began with criticism.
