When a penalty is taken, the ball must touch or pass the center of the mark. Until now, players have often placed the ball as far forward as possible, barely touching the line closest to the goal. Entry into the zone by players other than the author of the penalty will only be penalized if they have influence. Finally, unintentional punches are now treated as other fouls, meaning they no longer require ejection.
