Bizkaibus workers will go on strike on March 19

Unions UGT, THE A, CCOO, USE and LAB have called a 24-hour strike on March 19to which they are called more than 1,300 Bizkaibus employeesto denounce the “recurrence” in physical and verbal attacks on workersas well as the “increase in severity” of these types of acts.

The unions have reported that they “have been denouncing for years” the “increase in physical attacks” and the “normalization of insults”, as well as the “lack of respect”.

The union representation has confirmed that they are experiencing situations “that are far from the public service that Bizkaibus workers offer 365 days a year.”

In this sense, they have requested “respect” to be able to go to work “and serve the millions of users they transport annually”, while at the same time they have thanked “the daily support and respect of practically all of them.”

However, they have acknowledged that they are witnessing “with concern” the increase in situations that “make it difficult for workers to go to their jobs safely.”

In this sense, they have assured that they have been requesting for some time “socialization campaigns, respect, but also human resources, new technologies and actions that minimize these possible situations that arise”, offering coverage to professionals who are on the street daily, ensuring the safety” of public transportation and those who provide it.

The unions have pointed out that they know that these situations are not unique to Bizkaibus and that groups of Bilbobus, Meter and Euskotren “they suffer” from these types of situations “daily”, which is why they have called on these groups to join this day of strike.
