This Wednesday, the Secretary General of the PS appealed to undecided voters to vote in Sunday’s elections, especially aimed at pensioners and women, and considered that citizens have reason to be afraid of “right-wing representatives”.
Pedro Nuno Santos spoke to reporters at the end of a street rally in Torres Vedras, in which he was accompanied by the Secretary of State and former president of this municipality of the western region, Carlos Miguel, as well as the head of the socialist list of the Lisbon Circle party, Mariana Vieira da Silva.
“We want to appeal to everyone who is undecided, especially older people, about the importance of this election, about what is at stake in this election. “I also appeal to the women of our country who know that with socialists their rights are always moving forward,” he said, before attacking the Democratic Alliance (AD).
“Every time we hear a right-wing figure talk about women’s rights or climate change, we get scared. In this election we are defending a legacy. [governativo] but building a future with hope, higher wages, pensions and public services,” he said.
In front of reporters, Pedro Nuno Santos promised that if he forms a government, he will “take advantage of the current economic and financial stability to increase revenue.”
“Some talk about change, but the change they are supposed to represent is a retreat. The last few days have shown that there is a great desire among the Portuguese to continue working with PS. We have important results, we know that there are many things that are wrong, but we also know that the answer is not found in AD solutions,” he added.
On the street in Torres Vedras, in addition to slogans of support for Pedro Nuno Santos, people shouted “Mariana, go ahead, you have your own people here” – Mariana, minister of the Presidium of the current government.
