The IL President said this Sunday that the political scenario emerging from the legislative elections is complex and that the next few days will be crucial to clarify it, showing that he is ready to take responsibility and be part of the solution.
“We will be responsible for the scenarios that arise and it is not because of the Liberal Initiative that there will be no sustainable governance solution. Therefore, others must take responsibility,” said Rui Rocha, reacting to the results. Sunday’s legislative elections in Estufe in Monsanto, Lisbon district, where IL election night took place.
The Liberal leader, who was next to him on stage where former IL leader Joao Cotrim de Figueiredo spoke, stressed that the political party would contribute to the solution by “naturally excluding” options that they had always excluded, citing Chega.
During the election campaign, Rui Rocha made it clear from the very beginning that he would never reach an understanding with Andre Ventura’s party.
“We will be here to take on our responsibilities, to contribute to decisions, to make Portugal a more prosperous country. Let’s look forward to the next few days,” the IL leader emphasized.
