A woman who had been in custody for three days escaped from Tyres Prison on Monday morning. She is 41 years old, lived in the area of São Domingos de Rana and is accused of theft, causing qualified bodily harm and forgery of documents.
“The prisoner returned to the prison system due to the revocation of her parole and is now serving the remaining 2 years and 11 months that she has left to serve after 9 years in prison for the crimes of theft, qualified physical harm and forgery,” – says the certificate from the General Directorate of Reintegration and Prison Service, to which CM had access.
The woman managed to jump over the net with the help of a chair and then took advantage of the open gate due to work being carried out at the prison and poor surveillance.
“The union warned about the lack of security in prisons. Here’s the proof. We are playing prison,” warns the leader of the National Union of Prison Guards, Frederico Morais.
The Accounting and Inspection Service, coordinated by the prosecutor’s office, began an investigation to establish the circumstances under which the incident occurred.
