Eric Carmen, lead singer of the band Raspberry and author of the song All By Myself, has died.

The lead singer of the North American band Raspberry, 74-year-old Eric Carmen, the author of such great hits of the 1970s and 1980s as “All by Myself” and “Hungry Eyes,” died over the weekend, the musician’s wife said today.

“It is with great sadness that I share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Eric Carmen. Our sweet, loving and talented Eric passed away in his sleep over the weekend,” explains Amy Carmen on the singer-songwriter’s website.

In the note, the musician’s wife emphasizes that Eric Carmen was glad to know that over the decades, “his music has touched many people and will be his lasting legacy.”

He was born in Cleveland, Ohio and was the lead singer of the band Raspberry. His biggest hit was the song Go All The Way.

After the band disbanded in 1975, he embarked on a solo career that saw him become known around the world for charming and romantic songs such as “Hungry Eyes”, popularized by the films “Dirty Dancing” and “Never Falling in Love Again”. .

Singer Celine Dion covered “All By Myself” in 1996.
