Charleston city officials are investigating Barnett’s death after the worker testified about his concerns about the safety of the airline’s manufacturing facilities just days before he was found dead.
Boeing has already responded to the death of one of its employees.
“We are saddened by Mr. Barnett’s passing and our thoughts are with his family and friends,” the company said.
In 2019, Barnett claimed that Boeing intentionally used defective parts in the planes, but the company denied those claims, saying it followed the strictest safety protocols.
On Saturday, the US Attorney’s Office opened a criminal investigation into an incident in which an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 MAX aircraft suffered a fuselage rupture in flight.
