Chelsea are back in business to sign Enzo Fernandes from Benfica and are willing to pay €120m on the Argentine midfielder’s release clause.
The World Cup has become a priority for Chelsea. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the London club is ready to open a wallet to take the player to England now.
Rui Costa has recently shown willingness to extend the midfielder’s contract to raise his release clause to €150m, as CM has already reported. The Benfica President can now fail given this latest sprint. Chelsea are in a race against time and are already aware of Benfica’s intransigence in refusing to sell the Argentine for less than €120m. Fabrizio Romano even says that the British will provide the money in the next few hours.
Who can also leave Benfica, but at the end of the season, is another world champion, defender Otamendi, whose contract is ending and which River Plate craves. “We will do our best to count on him,” President Jorge Brito told Argentina’s Mitre radio.
