The attack on Leonid Volkov, a man who has been an adviser to Russian opponent Alexei Navalny for years, was planned, according to the head of Lithuania’s government crisis management center, Vilmantas Vitkauskas.
Leonid Volkov was attacked with tear gas and a hammer on Tuesday outside his home in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania.
The case is being investigated by authorities.
“The more we investigate, the clearer it becomes that the operation was professional and well planned,” concluded Vilmantas Vitkauskas.
According to ReutersThe Kremlin declined to comment on the attack. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russian President Vladimir Putin should not be feared, but respected.
