The Judicial Police (PJ) have arrested a 21-year-old man suspected of attempting to stab a couple to death outside a nightspot in Barcelos in November 2023, as reported this Friday.
In its statement, the SP alleges that the events occurred in the early hours of November 4 when two groups got into a “heated argument” at a nightclub but were eventually ejected by the establishment’s security.
He adds that on a public road near the site, the groups continued their discussion and attacked each other.
“The suspect, belonging to one of the groups, armed with a knife, attacked a man and a woman from a rival group, causing them serious injuries, namely a puncture wound in the torso, endangering their lives, mainly the lives of the male element,” it says in the statement.
The attacker was detained on Thursday.
The victims are a married couple: he is 20, she is 24 years old.
Charged with two crimes of attempted murder, the assailant will appear in the Guimarães court in the district of Braga for the first judicial interrogation and the application of coercive measures.
