Pedro Santana Lopez, the mayor of Figueira da Foz and a well-known Sporting fan, compared Swedish Lions striker Victor Gyokeres with Frenchman Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain and Norwegian Erling Haaland of Manchester City.
“Say what you want… Gyokeres is not inferior to either Mbappe (they both play very quickly, on the flanks) or Haaland (other characteristics). A real phenomenon,” he wrote on the social network X on Sunday.
The publication generated hundreds of comments. “The Swede learned to drink alcohol in no time,” joked one of the X users.”“I’m a sports fan, but I’m not blind,” another replied.
Given the reaction, Pedro Santana Lopez asked X users to analyze Victor Dieuqueres’ performance in Sunday’s match against Boavista “without factionalism.” The green and white club beat the Checkers 6:1, with the Swedish striker scoring three goals.
